The Committee of Interns and Residents, the largest resident physicians' union in the country, is looking for outgoing, energetic, and intellectually curious candidates to fill a Housestaff Involvement Fund (HIF) Coordinator position in Miami. This is a temporary position for no longer than 1 year.

CIR is a nationwide, progressive, member-driven healthcare union representing 14,000 resident physicians. We fight to protect the workplace rights of doctors-in-training and improve the delivery of quality health care.

About the Housestaff Involvement Fund (HIF):
The HIF is a joint union-hospital enterprise that residents may access for initiatives such as equipment purchases; patient care, quality improvement, and patient safety projects; and community outreach programs. The goal of the fund is to make the union a valued partner and give residents resources to directly address the health needs and concerns of the communities served.

Job Description:
CIR is seeking a highly motivated Housestaff Involvement Fund (HIF) Coordinator responsible for conceptualizing, developing and facilitating the implementation of projects and structures related to the Housestaff Involvement, Education, and Community Outreach Fund (Fund). The HIF Coordinator will be responsible for building a strong CIR presence across departments anchored to Fund initiatives, developing member leaders, and developing strategic relationships within the hospital and the community.

CIR is looking for candidates who have:

  • Demonstrated success in a development or strategic initiatives role for a union, nonprofit, foundation, political campaign, government entity or similar organization.
  • Prior union or other organizing (political/community) experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel, as well as with spreadsheets and reports.
  • Experience of working in a healthcare setting and familiarity with quality improvement principles and methodology, preferred.
