Program Director
Steelworkers Charitable and Educational Organization

The Steelworkers Charitable and Educational Organization (SCEO), a 501(C)3 non-profit of the United Steelworkers (USW), is filling a Program Director position in California to coordinate the development and implementation of programs aimed at assisting oil workers who have been laid off or are facing job displacement. This role involves strategic planning, coordinating with local agencies, and ensuring compliance with all regulations and guidelines.

The position is based on the availability of grant funds and will need to be filled for approximately three years.

Job duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Developing and implementing strategies to assist workers who have lost their jobs due to layoffs, closures, or other economic factors
  • Coordinating with employers, workforce agencies, community organizations, and other stakeholders to identify and address the needs of dislocated workers
  • Overseeing the delivery of services such as career counseling, job search assistance, training, and reemployment support
  • Administering the operations of the dislocated worker program
  • Frequent data entry of participant and training information codes
  • Compose required reports on project progress, budget, risks, and issues in a clear and concise manner
  • Coordinate the part-time employees by providing feedback and training as needed
  • Manage expense approval process for specified projects

Position Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in social work, human resources, or a related field
  • At least three years of experience in managing and coordinating programs for dislocated workers or other vulnerable populations
  • Knowledge of federal and California regulations and policies related to workforce development and unemployment benefits
  • Understanding of and experience with the labor movement
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data management systems
  • Valid California Driver’s License
  • Familiarity with the California labor market and industry trends
  • Certification or training in career counseling or coaching
  • Ability to effectively multi-task

Salary range: $72,583 to $117,159.95
