Database and Application Administrator – Downstate

Based in New York City, NY

 

The New York State Nurses Association is a labor organization of over 40,000 frontline nurses standing together for strength at work, nursing practice, safe staffing, and healthcare for all. We are New York's largest union and professional association for registered nurses.

This position will report to the Director of Technology. The Database and Application Administrator will helps our staff make the best use of technical applications to advance the work of our union.

This position is based in NYSNA’s New York City office and reports to the Technology Director. This position may require travel offsite to other NYSNA offices and events, and after-hours and weekend work based on the needs of our union.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Database Administration. Create reports, troubleshoot problems, build and test new features, and add and remove users.
  • Electronic application management. Administer systems used for electronic payments, surveys, voting, texting, and mass email. Management includes granting appropriate user access, troubleshooting user issues, and developing new features.
  • Security. Manage and monitor user access and authentication, maintain appropriate user permissions, and investigate and respond to security threats. Work with the Technology Director to enforce NYSNA’s data security policies.
  • Documentation and training. Write and maintain documentation for NYSNA applications, processes, and new features. Train NYSNA staff on applications and develop new trainings.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Three years' experience administering a database or other complex data application.
  • Proficiency with SQL or another query language, data reporting system, or programming language.
  • Experience supporting and training non-technical users of technical systems.
  • A strong commitment to the values of unions and social justice. A bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field is preferred.

Salary Range: $95,000 - $115,000, depending upon education and relevant experience.
