PASNAP Executive Director

Based in Conshohocken, PA

PASNAP is a relatively new but rapidly growing union of nurses and allied healthcare professionals. We have been successful because we intentionally engage in bold fights to meet the needs of our members and our patients.

The Executive Director provides overall direction and leadership for the union in conformity with the goals and policies set by the Executive Board, the PASNAP Constitution and B y-laws, and the responsibilities outlined below. The Executive Director works cooperatively with the Executive Board, Local leadership and Union staff to accomplish the Union’s program. The Executive Director will share the organization’s core values that organizing is the foundation of an effective union, and that health care is a human right, expressed in the policy goal of Medicare for All.


  • Constantly assesses and directs the proper allocation of resources to ensure success in contract negotiations, day to day needs of the locals, and new organizing in an ever-changing environment.
  • Participates in planning and setting policies to support the continued building of internal infrastructure, and the execution of strategic and operational plans.
  • Recruits, manages and retains a high-performing team; creates an environment of ownership, excellence and tenacity where staff and board are committed to achieve the organization’s goals.
  • Provides guidance, inspiration, evaluation, and professional development to all PASNAP employees.
  • Strengthens engagement between the Locals, PASNAP, and the community at large, deepening their affinity for the organization and contributing to the success of PASNAPs Political Action and legislative program.
  • Functions as chief negotiator and strategist in complex campaigns;
  • Collaboratively develops and monitors an overall budget and board approved spending plan to advance PASNAPs goals and objectives.
  • Reports to the PASNAP President and Executive Board. 


  • A record of success functioning at a Director Level for 3 or more years.
  • A 4 year degree in a related discipline; experience as a Registered Nurse preferred.
  • Experience in New Organizing and Internal Organizing in healthcare is preferred. Experience in new organizing and internal organizing in the labor movement is required.
  • Has considerable experience as chief negotiator and has led multiple contract campaigns
  • Basic industry knowledge of marketing, communications, and public relations.
  • Basic understanding of the economics and corporate structure of the health care industry.
  • Must demonstrate an understanding of both legislative and campaign aspects of local, state and Federal politics.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A degree in law is preferred but not required.
