Principal Purpose of Job: Coordinate the SEIU-UHW West & Joint Employer Education Fund Member to Member Engagement Program

Level of Authority: Performs duties independently and in conjunction with a team, setting priorities and scheduling own work in accordance with the Director of Outreach and Communication, and organizational policies and procedures.

Work Environment: Work is performed in a complex setting both inside, and outside of the office, with frequent adjustments and the need to deal with a diversity of people and tasks. Position may require visits to internal or external collaborators, participants, and other partners, in addition to travel to meetings, outreach or training locations, some of which may include overnight trips.

Essential Job Functions

  • Responsible for the coordination of a program throughout the areas served by the organization.
  • Under the supervision of the Director of Outreach and Communication, and in cooperation with internal staff and partnering organizations, develops and coordinates the implementation of a project plan, which will include planning and scheduling meetings, targeted outreach, recruitment, selection, enrollment, data collection and assessment, using established or standardized forms and tools.
  • Under the supervision of the Director of Outreach & Communication, conducts check-ins with team members, tracking progress on program plan and workplan, utilizing expertise in program to provide guidance and feedback, assessing development needs and recommending training.
  • Working with the Director of Outreach & Communication and team members, creates program plan focusing on customer service, increased utilization, process improvement and efficiency, rollout of new program elements, improving outcomes, communications and data collection
  • Develops and coordinates program communications plan including recruitment and outreach materials (flyers, applications, catalogs, etc.), website pages, social media, email blasts, etc. Works with team members to produce success stories and other promotional articles.
  • Develops, and works independently to maintain relationships with program partners including union leaders, employers, community colleges and vendors.
  • Consults with Regional Coordinators regarding program needs in their region, ensuring that program policies and procedures are consistent throughout the Education Fund.
  • Performs other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
  • May be required to make presentations to participants, project partners, or other audiences.

Qualifications and Capabilities

  • Four years’ experience planning and implementing educational or training programs, or a college degree plus a minimum of two years’ experience.
  • Good leadership and organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to effectively work independently and as a team leader.
  • Advanced level skills in the use of basic Microsoft Office environment (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience within a union and/or healthcare environment preferred.
  • Flexibility regarding schedule and assignments.
  • Must have a valid California Driver’s License, the use of a vehicle, and maintain an appropriate level of car insurance.
  • Ability to speak any of the following languages preferred: Spanish, Tagalog, Chinese or Russian.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to drive long distances; ability to move frequently from one location to another.
  • Ability to lift and occasionally carry materials, equipment or packages weighing up to 35 pounds.
