Field Coordinator
Political Department

Based in Los Angeles, CA


Description of Duties:
Work under the supervision of the Political Director to manage aspects of the LA County Federation of Labor’s (LA Fed) efforts to contact voters during election cycles and general residents throughout the year.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, train and supervise volunteers and/or paid organizers for the LA Fed’s phone and door-to-door operations
  • Recruit, train and supervise team of union members to work part/full-time with the LA Fed’s field program
  • Work with all field-related consultants to carry out LA Fed’s field program
  • Assist Political Director in maximizing affiliate involvement in the LA Fed’s political program
  • Work with Political Director to develop and implement goals and plans for the LA Fed’s Political Department
  • Ensure accountability through completion of thorough reports to track and report field-related activities in a consistent and timely manner
  • Utilize and store field-related inventory, which includes, but are not limited to: phones, laptops, tablets
  • Utilize voter databases
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to work independently and be able to complete multiple assignments simultaneously
  • Must be able to build relationships with union members and staff, community members and consultants and all others in carrying out duties
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends and long, irregular hours, and travel when needed
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, train staff and volunteers very important
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in high pressure, politically sensitive and fast pace environments and within deadlines;
  • Excellent listening, interpersonal, communication, team work and problem solving skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts while maintaining important and effective relationships;
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise excellent political judgment and discretion;
  • Effective time management skills, including prioritizing and managing multiple tasks, and demonstrated experience in developing personnel and reaching goals
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Familiarity with voter databases a plus.
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in organizing, labor and/or electoral campaigns highly preferred
  • Must possess valid California Driver’s License

Compensation
Based upon experience and qualifications.
