Job Description: Research Analyst

The Retail, Wholesale & Department Store Union (RWDSU) is seeking a Research Analyst to be based in our offices in New York City to provide research for collective bargaining, contract administration, internal and external organizing, and industry analysis within the Union’s jurisdictional sectors.

  • Conduct corporate research, including providing an analysis of power structure, finances, and vulnerability
  • Performs comprehensive and efficient searches of public information from a variety of sources to provide quantitative and qualitative information for company and industry profiles
  • Conduct field research when required
  • Capable of locating and interpreting public records, such as legal filings, regulatory records, real estate documents, and political campaign filings

Identifies campaign research needs and resources requirements

Job Qualifications

  • B.A. or B.S. required, in relevant field preferred
  • At least three-year work experience conducting corporate research, union experience, a plus.
  • Demonstrated community, union or student activist experience and ability to articulate a commitment to building power for working people and supporting the right to organize and collectively bargain
  • Experienced in public records access, financial analysis, and corporate research
  • Strong analytical, writing, communication, and interpersonal/organizing skills
  • Ability to effectively manage a workload with competing priorities and deadlines
  • Strong commitment to progressive social change and fighting for workers’ rights
