Staff Attorney

Based in Tacoma, WA


United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 367 is currently accepting applications to join the team as the Staff Attorney. The Staff Attorney will also direct the Grievance Department, handling grievances through all stages of the process, from filing to labor arbitration.

The Staff Attorney will be responsible for litigation involving Collective Bargaining Agreements and the National Labor Relations Board. This position is also responsible for providing legal advice to Union officers and staff ranging from organizing workers to representing Union members, as well as general legal issues that arise within a workforce. Occasional interaction with outside counsel will be necessary.

The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of experience, with some labor and employment experience as an intern or practicing attorney preferred. The Staff Attorney must be motivated and passionate about representing workers within the labor movement. Please list any connection you have with the labor movement, personally or professionally, within your cover letter. This position involves significant negotiation and discussion with opposing counsel, requiring a healthy ability for debate and analytical discussion. Washington State bar membership desired, but a license to practice law from any state will be considered.
