The Service Employees International Union, (SEIU) Local 925, a dynamic labor union representing 20,000 education, local government, and non-profit staff, is seeking a full-time Organizer based in our Seattle office. This position reports to the Organizing Director and works on new organizing campaigns in the public and private sectors.

Recent organizing campaigns have focused on university faculty and staff, child care and early learning teachers, public hospital workers, and public defenders. Applicants should have passion for social justice organizing and the mission of SEIU Local 925. This position often involves long and irregular hours and some travel.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities: The Organizer performs a wide range of duties, including:

  1. Leading and supporting non-union workers who are organizing to join SEIU Local 925.
  2. Mobilizing workers around workplace and community issues.
  3. Identifying and developing leaders, moving and assessing workers and recruiting and training Organizing Committee members.
  4. Developing organizing plans.
  5. Coordinating with other staff and Member Organizers.


  1. Ability to inspire and motivate workers, Member Organizers and staff.
  2. Ability to work independently.
  3. Effective oral and written communication skills.
  4. Ability to exercise high level of judgment.
  5. Ability to work well with diverse people.
  6. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and the Organizing VAN is preferred.
  7. Ability to speak language(s) in addition to English preferred.
  8. A valid driver’s license, car and valid vehicle insurance are required.

Compensation: Competitive pay, great benefits, exciting work. Salary and benefits are set by collective bargaining agreement. Starting pay depends on experience.
