Midwest Regional Servicing Representative

NOLSW, UAW Local 2320, is accepting applications for a Midwest Regional Servicing Representative. NOLSW, UAW Local 2320, is an amalgamated local representing over 7,000 social justice advocates nationwide. The members to be served include attorneys, paralegals, social workers, policy advocates, and support and administrative staff working in non-profit civil legal services, social services agencies, and advocacy and policy organizations. 

NOLSW Regional Servicing Representatives are responsible for organizing new units; internal organizing and leadership development; contract negotiations; grievance handling; arbitrations; and NLRB charges. Work is mostly handled remotely; however, candidates should be prepared for extensive travel on a flexible work schedule. 

NOLSW Regional Servicing Representatives are expected to work out of a home office in a location with access to a major city airport. NOLSW is currently seeking a Regional Servicing Representative residing in the Chicagoland area. 

NOLSW Regional Servicing Representatives are expected to have or purchase a UAW-made car and to drive to service members when practical. 

Job Qualifications:

• Knowledge and experience with labor or community organizing, union negotiations, grievances, arbitrations, and NLRB charges. Candidates would be expected to begin negotiating, servicing, and organizing with minimal orientation and training.
• Demonstrated ability to independently organize and coordinate multiple competing work responsibilities.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, for effective interaction with internal staff, members, and labor partners.
• Demonstrated ability to use independent judgment to formulate strategy and solve problems, under time pressure and urgent conditions.
• A basic familiarity with labor law resources (laws, regulations, cases, secondary sources) and an ability to use them to analyze problems.
• A basic familiarity with social media technologies and/or the ability to learn.
• Demonstrated personal commitment to social justice and the labor movement. 
• Software and Tech Skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Google Workspace (Calendar, Drive, Docs, etc.), Zoom and ability to learn new software.
• Juris Doctor (JD) and/or NOLSW membership strongly preferred.
• Spanish language fluency strongly preferred.

Once hired, the new Regional Service Representatives serve a one-year probationary period. The starting annual salary is $86,000- $90,500, depending on experience plus a weekly transportation allowance to assist in maintenance of a car or public transportation. NOLSW Regional Servicing Representatives receive 10% employer contributions to a 401(k)-retirement plan, a defined benefit pension plan, and Union-paid health, dental, and vision insurance.
