The Position:
The International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers (BAC) is seeking a talented individual to assist its Financial Management Unit in the coordination of its activities, including processing vendor invoices for payments, calculate and process employee and meeting attendee’s expense reports, distribute or mail vendor and employee checks and a host of other Accounts Payable functions. BAC, North America’s longest-serving trade union, is dedicated to organizing masonry craftworkers throughout the United States and Canada for the purpose of improving the lives of our members, their families, and their communities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Primarily responsible for all Accounts Payable invoices and accompanying check requisitions.
- Review and process vendor invoices for payment. Includes booking to appropriate budget and general ledger accounts, ensure proper authorization and backup, and enter in the accounting system.
- Review Concur travel and business expense reports for staff and other expense related submissions. Review, calculate and process employee and meeting attendees’ expense reports. Includes booking to appropriate budget and account codes, ensure proper authorization and confirm that detailed receipts are provided. Also includes a working knowledge of the International Union staff expense reimbursement policy.
- Distribute or mail vendor and employee checks
- Assists auditors, staff, and vendors by answering questions and resolving problems regarding payment related issues
- Assists other senior accounting staff in identifying and resolving accounting transaction problems
- Reconciles credit card statement information to source documents to ensure proper and receipt tracking and expense entry of charges
- Contacts vendors and coordinates with internal offices to obtain accounting information necessary to process payments
- Maintain all accounts payable files, including scanning and filing
- Day-to-day vendor maintenance document storage & involvement with annual 1099 filings
- Assist in all Accounts Payable functions for all Financial Management Unit entities as necessary
- Other duties as assigned by Accounts Payable Manager
Skills & Qualifications:
- Three (3) years of accounts payable or equivalent experience
- Must be detail oriented with excellent organizational skills
- Critical thinking skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Working knowledge of automated accounting system
- Experience with Sage 500 accounting system a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

Salary Range: $63,096.17 – $76,066.30
Schedule: Monday to Friday
