JOB DESCRIPTION
SEIU Local 509 is growing rapidly, and our team is expanding to better serve the needs of union members. We seek a full-time Finance Assistant in our Data and Membership Department to help facilitate this growth and evolution, and assist in the day-to-day functions of the organization. This position will primarily focus on assisting in the facilitation of the Beck Hudson dues enforcement process and addressing related issues. Other duties may be assigned as the department evolves.

EXPECTED RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists in the facilitation of the Beck Hudson dues enforcement process by preparing mailings that welcome new members to the union.
  • Processing membership cards received during the Beck Hudson process.
  • Assisting the Finance and Business Specialist in preparing mailings. 
  • Participates in regular staff meetings and trainings. 
  • Provides general support for related business, membership and finance department functions (and other departments as assigned).
  • Act as a support role in union activities.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Background in employee/member benefits, accounting, human resources or related fields strongly preferred
  • Proficiency with accounting software, Microsoft Excel and CRM databases preferred
  • Ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to work well with diverse populations.
  • An insured, registered vehicle and a valid drivers’ license are required.
  • Ability to multitask and work independently
  • Union, non-profit or governmental experience preferred, but not required
  • Prior knowledge and/or background of unions and dues systems helpful, but not required
  • Support for and desire to contribute to the union's mission and principles.
  • Willingness to work some nights and weekends, including travel throughout the state and infrequent out-of-state travel.

COMPENSATION, BENEFITS & LOCATION
This is a full-time bargaining unit position based in Marlborough, MA. The salary range for this position is $60,046.09-$68,388.13 depending on experience. Benefits include, at no cost to the employee, health insurance with FSA and HRA, dental insurance, short and long-term disability, a pension, an optional 401k (no employer match), and generous paid time off.
