Salary Range: $87,000.00/ year to $102,000.00/year

Job Summary:
The Assistant Regional Manager serves as a key support role to the Regional Manager in overseeing daily operations, supervising assigned staff, and ensuring the successful execution of projects and initiatives. This position is responsible for monitoring progress through proactive leadership and guidance, addressing staff and member needs, and fostering organizational growth in alignment with UDW's mission and values.
- Assist the Regional Manager in overseeing day-to-day operations to ensure projects are completed on time and meet organizational objectives.
- Monitor progress on projects related to member servicing, union campaigns, leadership development, and community outreach.
- Provide regular reports on project status, identifying challenges and recommending solutions to ensure smooth execution.
- Support the implementation of regional plans to expand membership through orientations, meetings, house visits, and special events.
- Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., Communications, Political) to enhance outreach strategies and member education efforts.
- Ensure administrative processes maintain accurate membership data and comply with organizational standards.
- Support the supervision of department staff, providing guidance and feedback to ensure alignment with regional goals.
- Assist in training staff and volunteers in effective organizing strategies, leadership development, and advocacy techniques.
- Monitor employee productivity and provide constructive coaching to improve performance.
- Facilitate communication between upper management and staff to ensure clarity on expectations and organizational priorities.
- Address member concerns or escalation issues promptly while maintaining a focus on delivering excellent service experience.
- Assist in developing initiatives that foster positive organic growth among members.
- Collaborate with community stakeholders to strengthen coalitions around shared goals that benefit members.
- Support the organization of local councils focused on political, human rights, health, and welfare initiatives.
- Assist in preparing research and documentation for contract negotiations.
- Provide administrative support during grievance handling and arbitration processes.
- Collaborate with supervisors to ensure compliance with labor agreements and policies.
- Assist in monitoring regional budgets and expenditures to ensure alignment with financial goals.
- Prepare budget reports and recommendations for the Regional Manager.
- Support the implementation of leadership academies, councils, and training programs for member leaders.
- Identify opportunities for mentoring and developing member leaders.
- Act as a liaison between UDW and community organizations to strengthen partnerships.
- Participate in local events to amplify UDW’s presence and advocacy efforts.
- Analyze membership data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Provide actionable insights to the Regional Manager based on data analysis.
- Handle high-level member service issues or emergencies in collaboration with the Regional Manager.
- Develop contingency plans for operational disruptions.
- Develop individualized improvement plans for staff as needed.
- Collaborate with the Regional Manager on long-term planning initiatives.
- Provide input on strategies to align regional activities with organizational goals.
- Ensure compliance with legal requirements, union policies, and procedures across all operations.
- Assist in audits or reviews of regional activities.
- Utilize software platforms to streamline member outreach, reporting, and data management.
- Train staff on new tools or systems used by UDW.
- Assist with department projects and perform other duties as assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of work in this job classification.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Monitor Union Representatives within assigned area(s).
- Develop Union Representative skills of staff and member volunteers.
- Provide guidance and ensure staff’s compliance with UDW policies and procedures.
- Identify opportunities to lead and train staff and volunteers in developing social justice and civic and community power through local political, human rights, and health & welfare councils.
- Monitor performance and deadlines goals that comply with the company’s plans and vision and communicate them to subordinates.
- Assist with workflow and ensure that employees understand their duties or delegated tasks.
- Monitor and assist employee productivity and provide constructive feedback and coaching.
- Receive complaints and resolve problems.
- Maintain timekeeping and other records.
- Pass on information from upper management to employees and vice versa.
- Hire and train new employees.
- Ensure adherence to legal and company policies and procedures and undertake disciplinary actions if necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of labor rights, contract language, PA grievance, political, budget & lobbying plans
- Ability to research, interpret and summarize local, state, and federal laws, policies, and procedures affecting home care workers.
- Effectively prioritize and multi-task assignments and responsibilities
- Ability to identify, develop and execute plans while directing personnel and volunteers.
- Excellent communication skills with proven presentation and speaking abilities.
- Ability to implement plans and procedures across teams while monitoring effectiveness.
- Knowledge of customer service skills, including needs assessments, organizational processes, and quality standards
- Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and office procedures
- Social orientation preference and effectiveness in working with and connecting with others.
- Knowledge of the Child Care System in California
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Canvassing platforms
- Proven experience solving complex issues and problems in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to establish and maintain rapport and credibility with diverse demographic groups, elected officials, and community organizations.
- A demonstrated commitment to equity and social justice around issues impacting workers and communities.
- Ability to work cooperatively and effectively in cross-functional teams.
- A demonstrated commitment to unions, supporting and developing members’ voices.
- Strong strategic and critical thinking skills
Preferred Qualifications, Education, and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree or equivalent experience in business administration, political science, public affairs, public administration, labor relations, or a related field.
- 3-5 years’ experience and demonstrated success in the management of staff, programs, and experience working in a political, government, and non-profit environment, supervising multiple teams and projects with competing timelines.
- 3-5 years of labor union or comparable experience
- 3-5 years managing political, legislative, and contract campaigns.
- Excellent analytical and strategic skills to build comprehensive strategies and plans to support various socioeconomic levels.
- Excellent communication.
- Excellent written communication, presentations, and public speaking skills
- Excellent computer skills and technology savvy.

Requirements:
- Must possess a valid California driver’s license, auto insurance that covers business driving, and an automobile for business use.
