SEIU TX is seeking a Data Specialist in Houston or Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas. This position will start as a part-time position with an expected average of 20 hours per week, but with the potential for evolving into a full-time position in the future. The core responsibilities of the Data Specialist are helping to maintain our member database, entering and updating worker data, processing member dues, and monitoring data from employers to ensure contract compliance.

The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of unions, familiarity with the Service Employees International Union, and a strong commitment to social justice. Advanced data experience is not required, but attention to detail, accuracy, and computer literacy are essential.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Upload and process worker lists received from employers
  • Upload and process member dues files received from employers
  • Data entry in support of field work
  • Process membership authorizations
  • Maintain data hygiene in our member database
  • Digitize union contracts
  • Review online reports to identify contract compliance issues
  • Send information requests to employers
  • Prepare reports and conduct analysis of potential contract violations related to inaccurate pay or benefits or failure of employers to provide required data or remit dues to the union
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Computer literacy is required, some database experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with an online member database platform (such as VAN, Unionware, Salesforce, etc.) is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Ability to work independently, solve problems, and manage time and priorities.
