Salary Range: $68,640.00/year – $87,188.00/year

Job Summary:
The Human Resources Generalist plays a crucial role in supporting the HR Compliance and Employee Relations Manager and the Talent Acquisition Manager. Key responsibilities include managing employee data within the HRIS, overseeing benefit plans and incentives, assisting with employee relations matters, conducting training sessions, supporting recruitment and talent acquisition efforts, and actively implementing HR programs, training, policies, and projects.

Compliance and Employee Relations Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Meet with employees to discuss leave of absence (LOA) options and track protected time off for regulatory and compliance purposes.
  • Assist in ensuring ongoing compliance with federal and state laws, public health guidelines, and company policies.
  • Assist with employee relations cases as the intake and investigative coordinator.
  • Coordinate performance management tasks and activities including processing performance evaluations, merit increases and salary adjustments.
  • Assist employees with benefits enrollment and answer basic health plan questions.
  • Assist in maintaining the Manager’s calendar, including scheduling meetings. 
  • Maintain the HRIS by performing periodic data entry of employee change requests such as background screenings, onboarding, salary adjustments, leaves of absence, offboarding, and other general data entries and documentation practices.
  • Answer the telephone, relay messages, and maintain office equipment and supplies.
  • Maintain employee confidence and protect operations by keeping human resources information confidential.
  • Organize and maintain accurate and up-to-date human resource files, personnel files, department records, and documentation.
  • Answer frequently asked questions from employees about standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refer more complex questions to the appropriate HR division.
  • Perform periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
  • Provide clerical support to the HR department, file and create documents, packets, and mail.
  • Coordinate new hire orientation, onboarding, and offboarding tasks in collaboration with the Payroll Dept. and other departments.
  • Assist with planning and executing special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide training and meetings, employee recognition events, holiday parties, retirement, and other celebrations.
  • Perform administrative duties, including taking meeting minutes, conducting job analyses, and writing standard operating procedures.
  • Serve as a backup to the Executive Assistant and Safety Coordinator.
  • Assist with department projects and perform other duties as assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of work in this job classification.

Talent Acquisition Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with managers to understand staffing needs and develop recruitment strategies to attract qualified candidates.
  • Source, screen, and interview candidates to assess their skills and fit for open positions.
  • Coordinate and schedule interviews between candidates and hiring managers, ensuring a seamless recruitment process.
  • Manage job postings on various platforms, including job boards, career websites, and social media channels to reach a vast pool of candidates.
  • Conduct reference checks and background screenings on potential hires to verify credentials and ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Assist in coordinating and conducting the onboarding process for new employees.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date candidate records in the applicant tracking system (ATS) to track recruitment metrics and analyze trends.
  • Provide regular updates to hiring managers on the status of open positions and candidate pipelines. 
  • Stay current on industry trends and best practices in talent acquisition to provide suggestions for continuously improving recruitment strategies and processes.
  • Serve as liaison between the Talent Acquisition and Compliance and Employee Relations divisions to ensure smooth transactions from one phase of the employee life cycle to another.

  • Proficient in benefits administration with a comprehensive understanding of compliance requirements including Affordable Care Act (ACA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA), Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), California Family Rights Act (CFRA) and Pregnancy Disability Leave (PDL) .
  • Proficient in California state labor laws and leaves: Paid Sick Leave Law, Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA), Equal Pay Act, Wage and Hour Laws, Meal and Rest Break Laws, Workers' Compensation Laws, Kin Care Law, Domestic Violence Leave Law, and California Whistleblower Protection Laws, and others.
  • Demonstrated expertise in integrating Benefits, HR, Payroll, and Risk Management functions.
  • Ability to articulate and discuss performance management and compensation plans effectively.
  • Familiarity with financial principles and adept at basic financial analysis.
  • Competent in managing department budgets with a focus on organizational efficiency.
  • Exceptional organizational abilities with a proven track record of multitasking in dynamic environments.

Preferred Qualifications, Education, and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business or related field or equivalent education and experience.
  • 3 to 4 years of progressive human resources experience.
  • Proven ability to accomplish timely completion of multiple projects with competing deadlines.
  • A high level of professionalism, honesty, integrity, and work ethic are essential.
  • Strong communication and training delivery skills are required.
  • Energetic, enthusiastic, and self-motivated.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills
  • HR certifications: PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM–SCP credential
  • Fluency in Spanish (preferred)

Requirements:
