Bricklayers & Trowel Trades International Pension Fund (IPF) is currently hiring in the Washington, DC area for the position of Retirement Plan Coordinator!

The IPF was founded in 1972 and is a defined benefit plan covering 92% of members of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers (BAC) throughout the U.S.; ensure the retirement security of more than 26,00 U.S. pensioners and beneficiaries. The IPF also provides benefits to over 900 pension and beneficiaries under the IPF-Canada Plan. 

The Fund also offers the BAC Save Retirement Savings Plan which offers supplemental security for members consisting of both an Annuity and 401K Plan. Both the BAC Save Annuity and 401(k) Plans have proven track records of assisting members bridging gaps in their finances and improving living standards. Building upon its core mission of ensuring a secure, dignified retirement for skilled Union masonry craftworkers, the IPF strives to deploy the latest technology to administer it’s Plans and adheres to solid investment practices to protect Fund assets. Our participants are the most highly skilled trowel trades craftworkers across the United States and Canada including bricklayers, stone and marble masons, cement masons, plasterers, tile setters, terrazzo and mosaic workers, and pointers/cleaners/caulkers. 

The Position:
The Retirement Plan Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day administration and coordination of employer -sponsored retirement plans, including defined contribution (e.g. 401(k) and defined benefit pension plans). This position ensures compliance with plan rules and regulation requirements. Serves as a key point of contact for employees and plan vendors and supports the accurate and timely processing of applications. The coordinator works closely with Executives and external local union offices.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Processing of pension and related benefits, applications, pre-retirement requests and other correspondence. Researching Plan participant records and calculating International Pension Fund/Retirement Savings Plan/Merger benefits including research, benefit computations and record keeping.
  • Consistent proficiency in processing pension applications and pre-retirement correspondence. This means, analyze, research, and verifying all information received. Obtains facts to support decisions, composes original letters, and calculates pension benefits eligibility. 
  • Responds to Participants and Local Union office phone calls communicating clear and accurate details of benefit programs to Plan participants and Local union representatives.
  • Maintenance of administrative and member files related to the benefit application and/or entitlement process. 
  • Research and process eligibility of deceased participant applications and corresponds with beneficiaries and/or their legal representatives regarding eligibility for death/survivor benefits
  • Assistance in the preparation of reports to the Board of Trustees and its Committees 
  • Performs all other duties as deemed necessary by the Team Leader(s) and other Office Executives.

Skills & Other Requirements:

  • Requires excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills
  • Requires proficiency in basic arithmetic and ability to perform mathematical computations relating to the calculation of benefits
  • Must be able to utilize the Pension Application system (PAS), Revenue Accounting System (RAS), Annuity Application System (AAS), and OTG Application Extender to research benefit eligibility
  • Requires adequate knowledge of the Retirement Savings Plan/US and Canadian Pension Fund Rules and Regulations, Merger Agreements and the Rules and Regulations of merged pension plans
  • Must have the ability to organize multiple work assignments and accomplish results with minimum supervision
  • Must have the ability to meet tightly scheduled deadlines and attain high level of accuracy
  • Bilingual (Spanish and English) Preferred

Salary: $58,379.64 – $63,618.93

Schedule: Monday to Friday
