Human Resources Generalist
Based in San Dimas, CA
OVERVIEW
Under direction of the HR Manager, the Human Resources Generalist supports a broad range of HR-related responsibilities with a strong emphasis on compliance with labor laws, workplace investigations, and fostering a positive organizational culture. Maintains confidentiality in work-related matters, as this position involves access to confidential information, including but not limited to personnel files and labor relations matters. Non-Bargaining unit position.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Conducts timely, fair, and objective investigations into workplace complaints, including issues related to harassment, discrimination, retaliation, policy violations, and other employee relations matters.
- Documents investigation steps, findings, and conclusions thoroughly and professionally.
- Makes recommendations for resolution and support implementation of appropriate actions.
- Promotes a respectful and inclusive workplace by ensuring consistent and legally compliant application of HR policies.
- Interprets and applies California, Hawaii, and Washington State employment laws and regulations.
- Supports the HR department’s compliance audits and ensure personnel files, I-9s, and leave records are complete and accurate.
- In consultation with the HR Manager, acts as a liaison between departments, affiliates, vendors, and plays a critical role in ensuring the consistent application of HR practices.
- Serves as a point of contact for HR matters and employee inquiries and requests.
- In consultation with the HR Manager, assists with development, implementation, and revisions of HR policies and procedures.
- Assists in the full-cycle recruitment process, including job postings, screening, interviewing, onboarding, and orientations.
- Assists in the administration and coordination of employee benefit programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and wellness initiatives.
- Administers leaves of absence in accordance with FMLA, CFRA, ADA, HFLL, WA PFML, and other applicable leave laws.
- Embrace diversity, equity, and inclusion within the organization, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and by fostering an inclusive workplace culture.
- Assists with the management of HR databases and systems for data entry, tracking, and reporting purposes.
- Assists with audits, surveys, and internal reporting as needed.
- Assists with payroll processes to ensure timely and accurate compensation.
- Assists with special projects and strategic initiatives., Assists in organizing events, meetings, and training sessions, including logistics and follow-up.
- Assists with document management.
- Maintains confidentiality, discretion, judgment, and professionalism when handling sensitive information, including personnel files and labor relations data.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent combination of education and HR experience.
- Minimum five (5) years of general HR experience with a strong focus on workplace investigations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of employment laws and regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of human resources processes and best practices.
- Ability to understand and interpret employee union contract agreements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to handle sensitive conversations and write clear investigation reports.
- Ability to work well independently, prioritize, multi-task, problem-solve, and complete assignments effectively and efficiently, with attention to detail.
- Ability to take direction from management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS systems
- Ability to type 45 wpm proficiently/accurately.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with staff, officers, vendors, and union members, including the ability to handle sensitive conversations and write clear investigation reports.
- PHR, SHRM-CP, or other HR certification preferred.
- Background in labor movement and/or progressive movements a plus.
- May require occasional travel to locations in California and Hawaii.
- Flexibility to work beyond normal business hours, as needed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to lift up to 25 lb. mailing trays, safety equipment, storage boxes.
COMPENSATION PACKAGE
Hourly $79.303 – $98.609. We provide a comprehensive package including medical and dental benefits for employee and dependents, optical allowance for employee and dependents, life Insurance for employee, defined benefit pension plan, 401K and flexible spending accounts, auto allowance, education program which includes tuition/course reimbursement and paid time off to take approved courses, vacation, sick leave, holidays, flexible personal time off, plus time off between Christmas day and New Year’s day.
