Hospitality Organizing Apprenticeship
Based in Milwaukee, WI
The Milwaukee Area Service & Hospitality Workers Union (MASH) represents roughly 1,200 cooks and cleaners, bartenders and baristas, servers and security guards, whose labor powers the hospitality industry. We are a growing union that organizes the unorganized while fighting for, winning and defending industry-leading contracts. We are a member-driven, democratic union.
MASH is recruiting for individuals who are passionate about fighting for justice for hospitality workers to join us for our Organizing Apprenticeship. The start date is flexible (though sooner is better). Organizing experience is not required. Good candidates will be flexible, sociable, reliable, and dedicated. Experience working service sector jobs and/or in the hospitality industry is a plus.
This apprenticeship will train you on basic and advanced organizing skills through working closely with our staff organizers and union leadership. You will learn to organize people to stand up for their rights and build worker-led committees to take on bosses and big corporations.
Innovative organizing campaigns, deep worker engagement, and our strong focus on leadership development make MASH an exciting place to create change and build power with workers in the hospitality industry Milwaukee.
Our goal is to not only organize non-union workers and win campaigns, but also to train effective labor leaders and organizers who can develop creative and strategic campaigns to change the economic balance of power.
