Creative Media Producer

Position Overview: The International Union of Painters and Allied Trades District Council 5 (IUPAT DC5) is currently seeking a Creative Media Producer to join our team and make a difference in the lives of working people. The Creative Media Producer should be well-rounded in digital media with an emphasis on video production and social media management. The ideal candidate will have a passion for and knowledge of the Labor Movement. Their primary tasks will include shooting and editing video content for organizing campaigns, recruitment efforts, explainer-style content and more. This person will work with the Communications Director and departmental staff to shoot and produce video content to be distributed on IUPAT’s social media channels (TikTok, Instagram, YouTube).
This person should be a creative thinker and collaborative employee who can thrive in a fast-paced environment with a willingness to take on tasks outside their primary responsibilities. The Creative Media Producer is expected to be able to execute field shoots independently. They will be tasked with ensuring the content they develop truly speaks to our audiences and furthers our long-term narrative goals to educate our membership and the public.
This position is based in our Seattle, WA office and will be supervised by the Communications Director. The position will require occasional travel for field shoots as needed.
Primary responsibilities:
- Independently execute field shoots in coordination with our local unions (AK, ID, OR, UT, WA). This includes pre-production, production, and post-production work.
- Work collaboratively with the Communications Director to create both short and long-form content for Instagram and YouTube, with a focus on video content.
- Work with Communications Director to develop and maintain a TikTok account.
- Assist Communications Director with management of social media channels.
- Turn raw media, archival materials and graphics into polished educational, entertaining, and promotional videos.
- Edit videos with a fast turnaround, including “rapid response” videos on the same (or following) day they are shot, and long-form videos as needed.
- Meticulously manage and organize footage, assets, and project files.
- Use templated motion graphics with live storytelling.
- Stay up to date on current editing trends and techniques, related to social media, storytelling, and content performance.
- Assist with design of campaign print materials as needed.
- Work occasional weekends and off hours.
- Be a quick and strategic decision maker.
- Be organized and have excellent project and time management skills.
- Be equally comfortable collaborating with a team or working independently from concept to completion.
- Be able to work under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of video shooting and editing experience.
- 3+ years of experience creating content for and managing a TikTok and Instagram account (professional and/or personal).
- Experience with Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator and/or equivalent tools.
- Knowledge of how to maintain a production calendar.
- Experience with production (lighting, sound, cinematography).
- Experience with traveling for shoots and managing production on the road.
- Experience conducting shoots independently.
- Knowledge of video optimization for mobile devices.
- A willingness and ability to travel as needed.
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred, but not required.
Portfolio required (Examples of work can be from a professional and/or personal portfolio):
- 3 examples of content created for TikTok.
- 3 examples of non-TikTok video content created (long and/or short form).
- 5-10 examples of photographic work (optional).
Compensation: This is a union position. Starting salary $62,400 with increase ($5/HR) every 6 months during first 18 months of employment. Pension and health insurance in addition to wage. Annual wage increases subject to collective bargaining and current wages of IUPAT DC5’s entire membership.
