Executive Director

Job Title: Executive Director
Reports to: CALMC Board of Trustees

Job Summary:
The Executive Director will provide administrative oversight of the activities of the Columbus Area Labor Management Committee and implement program delivery to include training, facilitation, and conflict resolution services to client member organizations.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Direct, develop and conduct customized training programs which enhance cooperation between labor and management in both public and private sector organizations to become high performance organizations; plan, conduct, analyze and report workplace, group or committee assessments; consult with people on developing employee-involvement processes in coordination with high performance workplaces;
  • Establish the annual budget for the organization; identify grant funding opportunities, write grant proposals, and develop new sources of funding; develop, direct and implement strategic plans to meet the goals of the organization, consistent with funding requirements;
  • Represent CALMC within the central Ohio labor community; develop and maintain relationships with labor unions and employers; attend meetings of area labor management organizations;
  • Supervise financial accounting and annual audit functions; approve purchases of office supply inventories, equipment;
  • Report CALMC activities and finances to funding organizations, governmental entities, CALMC Board of Trustees and CALMC membership; supervise the organization's other employee(s); other duties that may be assigned by the Co-Chairs or Board of Trustees.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Skill in verbal and written communication, customer service, problem-solving, and leadership.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines, maintain relationships with labor unions, employers, and local government officials, and operate a personal computer and office equipment.
  • Proficient in word processing, spreadsheet, email, and desktop publishing applications and related software.

Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED with 10 years of experience in human resources, labor relations, or a related field. Associate’s Degree may be substituted for 2 years of experience; Bachelor’s Degree and higher may be substituted for 4 total years of experience. Valid Driver’s License.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to transport and set up training material to include laptop computer, projector, and screen.

Compensation/Benefits
Compensation range - $42,000 – $44,000. Budgeted for up to three days a week at $27/hr. Technology stipend and mileage reimbursement included. Position is funded by a City of Columbus grant. Other grant monies maybe available.
