Dues and Membership Administrator
Based in Kent, WA
Overview:
SEIU Healthcare 1199NW is seeking a Dues and Membership Administrator with experience in accounts receivable. The role provides dues support to a growing healthcare workers union that’s mission is to unite, build power among, and improve standards for healthcare workers and to fight for quality, affordable healthcare for all Washingtonians. Must be detail oriented, highly analytical, able to pinpoint discrepancies immediately and must possess a sense of urgency in getting the job done without sacrificing quality. Should have excellent communication, inter-personal, and forward planning skills. Must always maintain a high level of confidentiality and have a high degree of professionalism.
General Duties:
- Maintain dues data in the UnionWare membership database, includes importing data, collecting membership cards, and data entry
- Ensure payments are made
- Manage compliance process
- Initiate and respond to correspondence with members
- Resolve problems and discrepancies with multiple human resource/payroll departments
- Manage member calls and emails
- Maintain electronic filing of membership cards and correspondence
- Reconcile dues income with the accounting department monthly
- Process refunds
- Perform audits on a regular basis to assure that accurate dues are received from the employers
- Implement procedures to assure integrity of the membership database
- HLF (COPE) deposit and payment
- Assist in budget preparation for dues income projections
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Three years of office experience, two years processing Accounts Receivable (or equivalent bookkeeping skills), union experience preferred
- Experience with UnionWare or similar membership database preferred
- Understanding of union dues collection process preferred, understanding of A/P required
- Ability to read and understand membership language
- Must be detail oriented and demonstrate a commitment to accuracy while working in a fast-paced environment
- Strong oral and written communication skills, multilingual encouraged
- Good problem-solving skills and judgment
- Dependable self-starter with low need for supervision
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Proven ability to multi-task and deal well with last minute projects and changes
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds/cultures
- Commitment to justice for working people
Technical Skills:
- Microsoft Office Suite (will be tested)
- Intermediate Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Typing 60 wpm
- 10-key, 10,000 KPH

Compensation: Competitive salary and excellent benefits as set by collective bargaining agreement. The hourly range is $26.99- $38.44 hourly (depending on experience).
