Campaign Canvass Manager

Based in Portland, OR

 

Are you ready to strengthen the voice of working people in the political process? Are you an experienced, effective project manager or organizer with great references?

If so, we need YOU for our robust political program during the upcoming election year by doing critical member mobilization and leading our canvass program! The Oregon AFL-CIO represents over 300,000 working Oregonians. Our mission is to improve the lives of our members and all workers, and to raise the standard of living for all Oregonians through collective bargaining, advocacy, and political education and outreach.

The Campaign Canvass Manager will hire, train, manage, and lead a team of paid organizers. This will include human resources management, accountability calls, logistics management, training and curriculum development, and canvassing with the team when time allows. The work will be in person and based in Portland, but travel is expected and required.

This is a full-time temporary position through the November 2024 election. Preference given to candidates who can start immediately, but willing to have a conversation for the ideal candidate. Compensation is $6,000-$7,000 per month, with benefits.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid driver's license and access to a car are required.
  • Previous experience managing a goal-oriented, successful canvass and/or outreach team
  • Project management and detail oriented
  • A positive, team-player attitude
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and leadership skills
  • Willingness to work evenings and frequent weekends
  • Strong commitment to economic, racial and gender justice
  • Excellent References

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience on political campaigns
  • Proficient with VAN, Google Docs and Excel
  • Bilingual in Spanish
