Nursing Education and Practice Confidential Administrative Assistant

The New York State Nurses Association is a labor organization of over 40,000 frontline nurses standing together for strength at work, nursing practice, safe staffing, and healthcare for all. We are New York's largest union and professional association for registered nurses.

This position will report to and function under the direction of the Director of Nursing Education and Practice. The Confidential Administrative Assistant will provide confidential administrative support to the Director, Nursing Education and Practice and NYSNA’s Senior Leadership.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with materials and logistics for written reports to the NYSNA Board of Directors
  • Participate in the planning of educational programs for union-wide lobby days, state-wide union meetings, conventions, and other NYSNA educational activities
  • Assist in the preparation for NEP department meetings, including scheduling, reminding, meeting logistics, and note-taking.
  • Assist in all processes and procedures to develop, coordinate, and publish biannually the Journal of the New York State Nurses Association
  • Coordinate the materials and logistics for the awarding of the Secor Scholarship annually
  • Coordinate the awarding of CH/CEU for participants of medical missions
  • Function as a Provider Unit database analyst, including troubleshooting, forecasting future developmental and technological requirements and support Provider Unit Representatives in all activities related to the learning management system.
  • Function an as analyst for individual learner and Provider unit outcomes for both individual and cumulative educational programs.
  • Assist the Director in the review of the NEP budget and make budget recommendations as needed.
  • Provide input into the annual evaluation of the NEP Provider Unit Representatives.
  • Review NEP invoices before sending to the Director for payment approval
  • Provide confidential administrative support to senior NYSNA leadership, as assigned.
  • Process confidential communications, as directed

OTHER DUTIES:

  • Relieve other confidential administrative personnel as needed
  • Maintain current knowledge of overall NYSNA office policies, procedures and practices affecting all program activities.
  • Perform other related activities which may be required in advancing the mission, purposes and interests of NYSNA.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Licensed as an RN, preferred.
  • Bachelor 's degree preferred
  • Proficiency in written communication. Demonstrated organizational and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Learning Management Systems and similar programs.
  • Knowledge of ANCC and IACET criteria preferred
  • Experience in educational learning outcomes analysis, preferred.

Salary Range: $65,000 – $75,000, depending upon background and experience.
