What We’re Looking For:
Montana Council 9 is recruiting to fill a vacant position in our Council Representative job class. This position is located in the Kalispell or Missoula area and would work remotely. The position will work independently and part of a team to coordinate and facilitate negotiating contracts, internal organizing and conduct worksite visits to engage members and offer solutions to workplace issues, presentations, schedules, advertises, and conducts training for officer, stewards, and members.

Additional duties include:

  • Utilize knowledge of various collective bargaining agreements to effectively processes grievances on behalf of members.
  • Attends and presents cases to Local and Statewide Grievance Committees.
  • Represent members and attend pre-disciplinary meetings and attends and presents cases at the top agency step of grievance hearings.
  • Attends monthly local membership meetings.

Required Qualifications:
Is educated in, or has experience with, labor unions, labor or community organizing, and basic personnel practices.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Possess good written and oral communication skills, by reading, writing, and communicating effectively.
  • The ability to present information and speak to groups of varying sizes.
  • Possesses a valid Montana State driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle and the ability to travel.
  • Possess basic computer aptitude, is skilled in the use of a PC and laptop, has the ability to use a cellular phone.
  • May be called upon to carry and move up to twenty (20) pounds of weight; participates in activities requiring long periods of standing and sitting, both indoors and outdoors.

Benefits:
Benefits include annual and sick leave, cell phone allowance, vehicle allowance, health insurance stipend, and holidays. Salary range is $45,000 to $51,000 and will be determined commensurate with experience.
