General Description:
The purpose of this position is to design and lead strategic internal organizing and field campaigns, with a focus on worker organizing and leadership and collective bargaining.

Assisting in development and execution of the union’s internal organizing program.

Developing and executing strategic campaign plans, including collaborating with other union departments and directors for internal campaigns; training, mentoring, and developing member leaders and staff in organizing skills and campaign work

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Development and execution of strategic campaigns
  • Identifying, recruiting, and leading member leaders and staff in the development and execution of strategic organizing campaigns
  • Collaborating closely with other departments and teams on political, and communications goals in service of issue organizing and collective bargaining campaigns
  • Preparation for and project management of communication and political projects in connection with organizing campaigns and other program goals.
  • Leading organizer training and member leadership training and development
  • Collective bargaining new contracts

Qualifications:

  • Experience with the development and execution of strategic campaigns
  • Experience leading contract negotiations at the bargaining table
  • Prior experience leading organizers or a team
  • Experience training staff and members
  • Experience with internal organizing, especially collective bargaining, and specifically 1-1 conversations, house visits, organizing committee meetings, and leading direct actions.
  • A demonstrated commitment to empowering workers through the labor movement.
  • Experience working for social justice as an organizer or activist.
  • Ability and stamina to work irregular and long hours and to attend weekend and evening activities.
  • Excellent communications skills required.

Working Environment:

Office and fieldwork involving travel to all areas of the state - sometimes with overnight stays - in a variety of environmental conditions. The workweek is Monday through Friday plus weekend work when specifically assigned. The workday may begin before and extend beyond normal office hours depending on the demands of the assignment.

Pay and Benefits:
Strategist positions provide comprehensive fully paid health, dental and vision benefits for employee and eligible dependents, domestic partner benefits, generous holiday and vacation policies, a monthly car and cell phone allowance, and a 15% employer-paid defined contribution 401K. Compensation range is based on experience $70,116 – $104,184 annually.
