Assistant Director
Electronic Media Services Division

Based in Burbank, CA

 

Purpose: The Assistant Director of the AFM Electronic Media Services Division (EMSD) works directly with and reports to the division Director to oversee and manage the administration and enforcement of national collective bargaining agreements pertaining to the work of non-symphonic recording musicians, as well as management of the AFM’s West Coast Office.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of the department Director, interpret and enforce non-symphonic electronic media collective bargaining agreements.
  • Provide overall day-to-day supervision of West Coast Office and staff.
  • Develop and implement department goals and strategies in conjunction with the Director.
  • Liaise with employers and producers who employ musicians under said agreements to secure agreement signatories and streamline the proper filing of work.
  • Coordinate with AFM Locals regarding contract interpretations, logistics, and enforcement.
  • Advise and represent musicians working under said agreements.
  • Handle inquiries, claims, grievances, and dispute resolutions.
  • Supervise and direct clerical staff.
  • Perform other, related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to read understand and interpret contracts.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, phone interaction with members, Locals, management, etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Able to work under pressure and prioritize tasks.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Familiarity with the music and entertainment industry is helpful.
  • Able to travel.

Salary range: $80,000.00 – $85,000.00 with an excellent benefits package.
