International Union Organizer

Home base will be located in the San Francisco / Bay Area with travel nationwide as needed.

IFPTE seeks to hire a Union Organizer to work closely with Local and International staff on executing campaigns to assist non-union professional workers to win their union and win a union contract. IFPTE is looking for candidates who have at least 2-3 years of experience organizing and representing workers in the labor movement.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist non-union workers in their efforts to join together with IFPTE.
  • Identify, recruit, develop and train worker leaders.
  • Build active worker organizing committees.
  • Help coordinate and lead meetings and trainings.
  • Perform tasks necessary for worker organizing, such as maintaining member databases, producing flyers/materials, and written communications with members and employers.
  • Assist IFPTE Local unions with internal organizing campaigns, and other goals.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • An in-depth understanding of non-union worker organizing; 2-3 years of organizing experience required
  • The ability and willingness to travel, and to work long hours, including evenings and weekends as the campaign requires.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • A team player who possesses the ability to engage with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • A car and a valid driver’s license are required;
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

Compensation is highly competitive, dependent on experience and qualifications. Salary range is $75,000 – $108,000 annually, with outstanding benefits package includes 100% employer-paid family medical coverage, 401k, and more. Work can include long, irregular hours, including evenings and weekends. A valid driver’s license and insurability are a requirement for this position.
