Policy & Research Coordinator

Based in Ontario, CA
(hybrid)

The Warehouse Worker Resource Center (WWRC) is seeking a qualified Policy & Research Coordinator to lead our policy work and provide strategic research to support worker power in the logistics sector through education, advocacy and action. This is a senior position for an experienced campaigner to produce strategic policy, legal and research tools to support worker and community organizing campaigns in supply chains of major retailers, and to move policy to support an accountable and sustainable goods movement sector in Southern California.

WWRC is the premier worker organizing center in the Inland Empire, with a track record of changing the logistics sector through strategic organizing, education and policy. WWRC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of the thousands of workers in the supply chains of major retailers across Southern California through education, advocacy and action. We educate workers and community members about their rights in the community and the workplace. We support workers with legal claims when they encounter violations at work. We work on local and statewide policy, and campaign for justice in the supply chains of major retailers.

Position Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and advocate for local, state, and federal policies to improve working conditions and promote good jobs in the warehouse and logistics sector.
  • Conduct strategic corporate, issue, and policy research in support of worker campaigns in major retail supply chains.
  • Develop and maintain research on the goods movement sector in the Inland Empire, including labor market, real estate and political landscapes, in support of regional coalition work on the industry’s impact on the local economy, environment and community.
  • Participate in developing popular education curricula, and training employers, workers and community members on worker rights and sustainable goods movement subjects.
  • Represent WWRC in regional, statewide, and national policy coalitions.

Qualifications

  • Dedication to advancing social justice and community development through organizing.
  • Experience and proficiency with research methods, economic analysis and/or policy advocacy.
  • Familiarity with labor, employment and transportation policy and law.
  • Minimum 3 years research or policy experience or Masters’ Degree in related field.
  • Familiarity with goods movement or Inland Empire region is a plus.
  • Experience training and supervising junior staff and research interns is a plus.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Salary and Benefits

  • Salary range: $66,560 - $85,000, depending on experience.
  • Full family medical PPO, dental and vision coverage.
  • Vacation leave accrued at 12 days per year in the first year.
  • 14 paid holidays per year.

Additional Requirements

  • This position is hybrid remote and in-office, requiring two days per week in WWRC’s main office in Ontario, California, with frequent additional in-person work as needed.
  • Must be available and willing to travel regularly to meetings and events throughout Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties, and occasionally to other regions and states.
  • Must be available and willing to work long and irregular hours on a daily or weekly basis, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
  • Required to be fully vaccinated with an FDA approved COVID-19 vaccine prior to first day of employment.
