Transportation Trades Department, AFL-CIO

Policy Analyst

Based in Washington, DC

The Transportation Trades Department, AFL-CIO (TTD) is seeking a Policy Analyst to help support its legislative and regulatory activities. TTD consists of 37 affiliated unions who together represent workers in all modes and areas of transportation. TTD focuses its advocacy efforts on the federal funding, authorization and other policy proposals that affect the transportation workers represented by our member unions.

The Policy Analyst’s primary responsibility will focus on monitoring and analyzing regulatory and legislative developments of importance to our member unions. Specifically, the Policy Analyst will be required to review the Federal Register to identify relevant regulatory notices, track affiliate interest in pending regulations, and work with TTD’s policy staff to author written comments. The Policy Analyst will also work with our communication team to ensure persuasive and effective public messaging on regulatory issues, and depending on the candidate’s level of experience, may also assist in legislative and policy analysis and advocacy.

TTD firmly believes that the anti-worker policies we fight back against disproportionately hurt the most marginalized members of our society, including people of color, people from working class backgrounds, women, and LGBTQ people. Advocating for these communities is centered in the work we do, and we therefore strongly encourage people with these identities or who are members of other marginalized communities to apply.

TTD offers excellent benefits, including a generous healthcare package, pension, transit allowance and vacation/paid holidays. The starting salary range for this position is $70,000 and may be increased commensurate with experience.
