Job Title/Position: Supervisor, Finance & Membership
Job Location: CWA Headquarters, Washington, DC
Salary Range: $91,109.70 - $99,032.27 Salary/year based on experience
Summary of Responsibilities: Provide support by updating and maintaining the inventory of furniture and equipment for the International and District Offices, and control correspondence. Requires strong accounting skills to analyze financial information, prepare financial reports and complex reconciliations. Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, great attention to detail, handle multiple accounting functions including financial statements, general ledger control, financial analysis and reporting, and new software applications; and oversee a portion of the accounting operation in a confidential environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain inventory of fixed assets; add purchases and remove items as authorized, record monthly depreciation entries and reconcile subsidiary accounts.
- Perform periodic physical inventory of furniture and equipment in a Fixed Asset System utilizing bar code system; assist with implementation of updated bar code system.
- File personal property tax returns in D.C. and various other jurisdictions.
- Prepare monthly and year-end reconciliations and schedules.
- Assist the external auditors.
- Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies as needed.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Maintain confidentiality of CWA records and financial information.
- Assist with special projects and reports as requested.
Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree in accounting or knowledge equated to five years progressive accounting experience required.
- Familiarity with Great Plains software or similar complex accounting system is preferred.
- Experience with Sharepoint is a plus
- Experience in reconciling accounts and maintaining subsidiary ledgers.
- Recent supervisory experience that includes the ability to move work until it is done.
- Strong written and oral communications skills.
- Advanced experience in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical and mathematical ability.
