Digital Communications Specialist

Based in Washington, DC


The National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) is seeking a Digital Communications Specialist at our DC Headquarters, located close to the U.S. Capitol Building. This position will support all aspects of NALC’s digital communication efforts and will be responsible creating and managing content for the NALC website, social media accounts, mobile app, and podcast and video projects.

Duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Write concise and engaging digital messaging for NALC’s website, social media, and mobile app
  • Serve as the lead for NALC’s website which includes, updating the website as needed, providing strategic recommendations to improve user experience, writing new content and creating new landing pages. This includes working with various internal departments to keep the website up to date.
  • Manage NALC’s social media accounts. This includes developing content (organic and paid), scheduling posts, reporting on metrics, designing social media graphics, and engaging with NALC’s audience.
  • Write and schedule push notifications for NALC’s mobile app and update information in the app as needed.
  • Manage the union’s affiliate social media accounts for the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, the largest one-day food drive in the country, and the union’s partner work with the Muscular Dystrophy Association (Deliver the Cure).
  • Support in the development of digital materials for the union’s legislative, political, community service, and other campaigns.
  • Compile the monthly audiobook (podcast) of NALC’s magazine, which includes collecting recordings from various departments, editing, publishing, distributing, and promoting the audiobook.
  • Produce, record, edit and distribute NALC’s podcast
  • Lead video efforts which includes filming, editing and distributing video content on the website and social media


  • Experience with social media management tools and managing professional social media accounts preferred
  • Experience with website content management systems preferred
  • Experience with podcast and video recording, editing and distribution tools preferred
  • Experience with design tools (i.e. Adobe, Canva) preferred
  • Excellent writer with strong attention to detail
