COPE & Compliance Supervisor II

Provide support toAssist the COPE & Compliance Administrator by overseeinghandling the political contribution requests work flow and preparing political financial reports; helping with day to day. Assist in supervision of employees, learning all systems and ensuring training documentation remains up to date; assisting with internal compliance matters as needed. Assists with internal compliance by reviewing mergers, trusteeships, and bond claims.

Must have significant knowledge of campaign finance laws and how they apply to unions; great attention to detail; handle multiple accounting and database functions, general ledger, queries, and new software applications; and oversee a portion of COPE & Compliance in a confidential environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the COPE & Compliance Administrator with supervising and training employees and overseeing a variety of work flow processes.
  • Assist the COPE & Compliance Administrator with communicating confidentially with internal and external legal teams to develop plans for political actions in the field;
  • Work in conjunction with staff during field actions to ensure compliance and file reports, as necessary;
  • Provide Convey complex legal advice from counsel and operational advice to leadership when developing plans for upcoming political races;
  • Complete/File Ensure that state and federal campaign finance reports and tax forms are completed and filed properly;
  • Ensure correct procedures are followed for contribution requests, compliance review, processing, and ensuring correct transmittal procedures are followed;
  • Reconcile Positive Pay reports against outstanding A/P;
  • Oversee the aAdministration of the CWA-COPE Convention Awards Program and ongoing Incentive Program;
  • Ensure COPE/Compliance Audit Clerks secure missing reports or checks from companies by making phone calls, sending e-mails, or contacting district representatives;
  • Provide financial information to the L/P Coordinators and Political Director, as requested;
  • Assist auditors as needed with financial documentation necessary to complete assignments;
  • Train employees in the use of various COPE system software;
  • Review prepared merger/recall documents to ensure accuracy;
  • Assist COPE & Compliance Administrator with annual Department of Labor listings, LM report review, and bond coverages.
  • May be required to travel.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and Access (or comparable database software) and the Google Workplace system;
  • Microsoft Office User Specialist core certification in Word, Excel, and Access or equivalent coursework and experience and ability to pass a computer-based examination in each of these areas;
  • Familiarity with or ability to learn many electronic campaign finance report filing systems and ability to use such systems to prepare and file state and federal reports;
  • Must be a self-motivated and energetic individual who possesses good interpersonal skills, preferably with supervisory experience;
  • Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously;
  • Possess strong written and oral communication skills;
  • Comfortable performing group or one-on-one training.

Salary Range: $86,438.84 - $90,988.26
