Position Purpose:
Industry Coordinators develop and execute strategic plans, and lead staff to manage program and campaigns that reach key strategic outcomes and empower workers across the long term-care sector to raise standards and enforce their rights through forming, building, and growing their union and reaching political, legislative and policy goals.
The core role of the Industry Coordinator is to provide leadership, direction and development to staff and members, and coordinate large pieces of program or campaign across an entire, program area, or industry. As part of the leadership team, the Industry Coordinator collaborates implementation of SEIU Local 2015 members’ Mission, Vision, Values and Organizational Priorities.

- Organize their own work and the work of their team, including create clear roles and responsibilities, clear communication, organize their time and support staff to do the same, and demonstrate self-motivation
- Highly effective oral, written and digital communication skills
- Computer and digital literacy relevant to the position
Experience and Education:
- 5+ years of experience in union or community organizing and representation.
- 2+ years of experience in leading large staff teams across multiple geographies or program areas.
- Demonstrated leadership and commitment to the goals of SEIU and its leaders.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise a high level of judgment and to work independently with elected leaders in complex political and local union situations.
- Demonstrated experience in all elements of creating and executing field/organizing program and campaigns, including developing & leading teams, staff supervision, planning, evaluation, budgeting, and accountability to outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience in leading bargaining and/or new worker organizing campaigns.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing environments and ability to work under pressure
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound independent judgment with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams to meet goals around membership, COPE, leader development, and building worker organization
- Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate data on program or campaign area, and use data to guide decisions
- Demonstrated knowledge of the long term care industry and labor laws
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Industry Coordinator performs a wide range of duties and responsibilities under the leadership and direction of the Deputy Statewide Field Director or other designee which may include but is not limited to:
- Develop program, policy and procedures to guide the work of the Local in an industry or area of focus.
- Develop training programs for staff and members to move the work of the Local.
- Lead work across multiple departments, in service of the goals of the Local.
- Review and approve movement of grievances, ULPs, UPCs and other legal actions.
- Lead, coach, supervise, assign, and evaluate team of staff including developing individual work plans and overseeing their implementation and evaluation.
- Create, execute and evaluate strategic field plans and campaigns across multiple geographies and/or industries to achieve results, in collaboration with team and other departments.
- Develop budgets, oversee office administration. Authorize expenditures within the approved budget.
- Build high performing industry, regional and campaign teams, including development, accountability and oversight of personnel functions of the team - recruitment, interviews and staff hiring; staff schedules, approvals for time off, assignments.
- Collaborate with various local union departments to ensure alignment of organizational priorities grounded in the work of organizing new members, bargaining, representation, political engagement, and leadership development.
- Contract with and supervise consultants or other outside resources in support of the Union’s mission.

- Other duties as assigned.
Scope and Nature of Supervision:
Coordinators will report to their assigned Deputy Statewide Field Director or Director.
Working Conditions:
- Willingness and ability to work long, irregular hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Must have a valid California driver’s license, reliable use of car for work, and required automobile insurance
- Willingness and ability to travel; the position covers large geographic areas and often requires temporary assignments away from home
- Work is generally performed in the field with staff, members and outside constituents.

Compensation:
The current salary range is $104,551.86 – $109,844.80 based on experience and qualifications.
