Sr. Communicator for Member Communications

POSITION TITLE: Sr. Communicator for Member Communications
ASSIGNMENT: Communications
AREA: New York

Responsibilities

  • Develop a member communications program for our New York City area that includes all available platforms (magazine, newsletters, e-blasts, social media, texting, etc.) so that our members are fully, effectively and regularly communicated with.
  • Develop member communications templates that can be used by organizers and delegates.
  • Coordinate and lead communications strategies for contract campaigns.
  • Develop and run trainings for organizers and delegates so they have the skills and tools to communicate with members.
  • Coordinate with communicators in our other regions so that we are communicating with members in the most consistent and effective manner and sharing resources.

Requirements

  • Excellent ability to work closely with a team, accommodate requests from team members, and assimilate input from multiple sources.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills, a positive, enthusiastic attitude and a commitment to contribute to a positive work environment.
  • An ability and commitment to modeling pro-active leadership behavior and skills.
  • The ability, experience, energy and enthusiasm to take responsibility for whole communications campaigns and pro-actively see each component through to a successful conclusion.
  • Deep commitment to the labor movement and progressive causes.
  • Excellent visual, written and verbal communications skills.
  • BA or higher.
  • At least 5 years’ experience working in communications for progressive political campaigns, non-profit organizations or unions.
  • Proficiency in Word and Excel.
  • Experience with design programs a plus.
  • Experience with social media strategies a plus.
  • Must thrive in an environment with tight deadlines, changing priorities, high-pressure and irregular hours.
