Data Training Specialist

We seek a Data Training Specialist to support all of 32BJ’s geographies. The person will be a member of the data team that tracks, reports and analyzes activity data in support of the union’s organizing, political and member engagement goals. This position is based at the union’s headquarters in New York City and is expected to travel to union’s offices in other states.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide in person and online support and training on heavily used reporting and CRM platforms, maintaining a regular training and presentation schedule with all union’s districts
  • Support union operations as needed
  • Point of contact for staff in issues related to union’s data. Serve as a liaison between end users and technical staff, convey issues and make recommendation for improvements
  • Perform quality assurance tests during the development cycle
  • Maintain and administer a ticketing system to track issues, requests and enhancements
  • Create and maintain training material, system documentation and best practices


  • At least 3 years of relevant experience training and supporting a complex and large platform
  • Experience writing and maintaining documentation such as manuals and guides
  • Strong data management and analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Spanish speaking is a strong plus.
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of users with varying technical skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office, in particular strong Excel skills are a must
  • Experience with reporting and visualization tools, in particular QlikView and MS Dynamics is a strong plus
  • Experience writing SQL queries and familiarity with relational databases is a plus
  • Attention to detail and problem solving skills, including effective problem solving
  • Detail oriented and well-organized
  • Ability to meet deadlines and multi-task a variety of on-going projects of varying lengths
  • Motivated self-starter who can work independently, as well as be an enthusiastic team player
  • Experience in the labor movement or with organizing or political campaigns a plus
  • Commitment to social and economic justice a plus
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
