"District Council No. 51 is an affiliation of chartered local unions of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, AFL-CIO, CLC, with over one hundred years of dedicated service in Maryland, Washington D.C., Virginia, North Carolina and vicinities.

District Council No. 51 currently has over 2000 active members representing a truly diverse and multi-talented workforce made up of painters, decorators, paperhangers, drywall finishers, glaziers, glass workers, sign painters, display workers, paint makers, civil service workers, as well as, employees in various private and public sector positions."
