This Public Notice is to inform you that the OREGON & SW WASHINGTON
FLOOR COVERING JOINT APPRENTICESHIP AND TRAINING COMMITTEE (JATC) will
be accepting applications for the following trade:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Age: Seventeen (17) years of age.
2. Education: High School graduate or successfully completed GED and
supply proof of same.
Ranked Selection: Applicants will be scored and ranked from
documentation submitted and interview as described on the following
page.
Note: Valid Driver's License may be required upon obtaining
employment.
GEOGRAPHICAL AREA:
Employers may be located anywhere in the State of Oregon; and,
Clark, Cowlitz, Klickatat, Skamania, Wahkiakum, and Pacific Counties
in the State of Washington.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Resilient Floor and Decorative Covering Workers install, replace and
repair all types of carpets, plastic laminates and other decorative
covering. Their work can be done in residential, commercial or industrial
buildings, or anywhere else covering is needed. The work must be done
accurately within set limits and tolerances, and workers must be able
to use scribes and dividers to enhance precision. Must be physically
able to do the work of the trade.
WORK PROCESSES
Approximately 8,000 hours of on-the-job training in the following categories
will occur:
1. Preparation of surfaces: Conditions all types of surfaces for application
of carpets, resilient materials, plastic laminates, decorative coverings,
and other materials necessary for correct installation.
2. Installation: Installation of resilient materials, plastic laminates,
carpet and decorative covering, and all trims necessary to installing
to any surface whatever it may be.

RELATED TRAINING
Ay least 144 hours of related training (classroom instruction) will
be required each year unless determined otherwise by the apprenticeship
committee. The following is a summary of related instruction:
1. Introduction of trade
2. Tools & usage
3. Safety - safe work practices and first aid
4. Customer & employer relations
5. Preparation of all surfaces
6. Mathematics
7. Pattern matching
8. Covering of all surfaces
WAGE SCHEDULE
The average wage for those journeymen employed by the participating
employer in the occupation is $22.00 established 9/1/05. The progressive
wage rate to be paid the apprentice is:
