Sound and Communications Apprenticeship

 

Position: The Sound and Communications Apprenticeship is a three-year training program that consists four thousand eight hundred hours on the job training in addition to six hundred hours of nighttime classroom instruction. Apprentices work during the day and attend classes one night per week. Apprentices are paid while they work and learn, with wages starting at fifty-five percent of S&C Installer wages and increasing five percent every six months, or eight hundred hours. Current starting pay is $14.15 an hour plus medical benefits. Duties: The S&C Apprentice works directly under the supervision of and assists a qualified S&C Installer in installing or maintaining the network of low voltage systems that include: voice or data circuits, sound distribution systems, fire alarm systems, security systems, and energy management systems.

 

APPLICANTS MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Be 17 ½ years old to apply and 18 years old to enter apprenticeship.

  • Have graduated from high school or passed the GED or an equivalent.

  • Provide an "official" copy of your high school transcripts, GED or equivalent document as proof of graduation. Transcripts must be turned in on the date you make the application, no exceptions.
