UNITE HERE is currently recruiting full-time Research Analysts (aka Campaign Researchers) to research, develop strategy and run campaigns to win justice and better treatment for workers in low-wage, service sector jobs throughout North America.

UNITE HERE is leading the fight to organize thousands of low-wage workers - many of them African-Americans, Latino and Asian immigrants, and women - in hotels, casinos, industrial laundries, institutional cafeterias, airport concessions, and apparel manufacturing, distribution, and retail facilities. Our union, with over 450,000 members, is at the forefront of battles for workers rights, immigration reform, living wages, and quality jobs in many cities throughout North America. UNITE HERE needs talented researchers to join in the struggle to organize the unorganized in these industries.

Positions are available in several major cities throughout the United States and Canada. Some positions are with the International Union, and some are with Local Unions/Affiliates.

Current available positions include:

• Atlantic City, NJ. Research Analyst and Senior Research Analyst positions with the UNITE HERE International Union to develop campaigns in the casinos and gaming division.
  
• Chicago, IL. Senior Research Analyst position with the International Union to develop national campaign in casinos and gaming division. Research Analyst and Senior Research Analyst positions with the International Union to develop and run organizing campaigns in the food service and hotel industries.
• Detroit, MI. Research Analyst or Senior Research Analyst position with the International Union to develop and run organizing campaigns in the hotel industries.
  
• Indianapolis, IN. Research Analyst or Senior Research Analyst position with the International Union to develop and run organizing campaigns in the hotel industries.
  
• Las Vegas, NV. Research Analyst position with the largest local affiliate of UNITE HERE, the Culinary Workers Union Local 226, which represents almost 60,000 workers in the gaming, food service and laundry industries, to work on campaigns to organize non-union workers and continue to improve the standards for existing members.
  
• Los Angeles, CA. Research Analyst positions with the UNITE HERE International Union to focus on developing campaigns to organize the unorganized in hotels. Research Analyst or Senior Research Analyst position with the International Union to develop and carry out campaigns in the gaming and casino industry, with a primary focus on tribal gaming in California.
• Minneapolis, MN. Research Analyst or Senior Research Analyst position with the International Union to develop and run organizing campaigns in the hotel industries.
  
• Mississippi. Research Analyst or Senior Research Analyst position with the UNITE HERE International Union to research and develop campaigns to organize non-union workers in the gaming industry.
• New Haven, CT. Research Analyst with the International Union to research and run campaigns in the hotel industry, with an initial focus on student campaigns at strategically important universities.
  
• New York City. Research Analyst and Senior Research Analyst positions with the UNITE HERE International Union to research and develop strategy for campaigns to organize the unorganized and build the power of workers in the hotel, food service and the manufacturing, distribution and retail industries. Senior Research Analyst position to develop and run campaigns in the capital strategies division. Research Analyst and Senior Research Analyst positions with Local 6 to research and develop campaigns to organize the unorganized and build the power of workers in the hotel industry.
• Philadelphia, PA. Research Analyst with the International Union to research and run campaigns in the hotel industry, with an initial focus on student campaigns at strategically important universities.
• Providence, RI. Research Analyst with the International Union to research and run campaigns in the hotel industry, with an initial focus on student campaigns at strategically important universities.
• Rochester, NY. Senior Research Analyst or Research Analyst position with the Rochester Regional Joint Board to work on organizing the unorganized and building the power of workers in the hotel industry.
  
• Sacramento, CA. Research Analyst position with the UNITE HERE International Union to develop and carry out campaigns in the gaming and casino industry, with a primary focus on tribal gaming in California. California Pension Fund Coordinator to engage with public pension funds with respect to the Union's priorities.
• San Diego, CA. Research Analyst for Local 30 to research and develop campaigns to organize non-union workers in hotels, with a focus on new development.
• San Francisco, CA. California Pension Fund Coordinator to marshall the power of worker retirement funds to help advance strategic organizing goals. Research Analyst position with Local 2 to work on campaigns to organize non-union workers and continue to improve the standards for existing members.
• Vancouver, BC. Research Analyst with the International Union to research and develop strategy for campaigns to organize the unorganized and build the power of workers.
  
• Washington, DC. Research Analyst position with the International Union to research and develop strategy in the capital strategies division.

Positions are also available from time to time in other locations.

Qualifications for International Union positions include:

• Commitment to fighting for workers' rights and activist experience;
  
• BA Degree, preferably in economics, business or labor studies or relevant research and/or organizing experience (labor, political or community);
  
• Strong analytical, writing, computer and interpersonal skills;
  
• Creativity, dedication, and motivation;
  
• Willingness to travel and to work long hours;
  
• Familiarity with database and word processing software;
  
• Ability to effectively manage a caseload with competing priorities and deadlines.

Research Analyst job responsibilities (International Union) include:

• Research companies using a wide variety of sources, including published databases, on-line and Internet sources as well as informational interviews with union, industry and financial sources;
  
• Conduct local and field research on companies and industries;
  
• Develop corporate analysis and adapt it for various audiences (e.g. staff, workers, stockholders, the public);
  
• Develop and implement campaign strategies and tactics;
  
• Develop expertise in certain key UNITE HERE industries;
  
• Interact with workers on organizing and contract campaigns;
  
• Work with UNITE HERE organizers, regional staff and elected leaders.
