DATABASE OPERATIONS ASSOCIATE

SEIU, Local 500 is a progressive labor union, organizing and representing over 16,000 workers in the public service in Maryland and Washington, DC. We are a proud affiliate of Service Employees International Union, the fastest growing union in North America. We have an immediate opening for a Database Operations Associate.

The Database Operations Associate is the key staff person responsible for managing dues and related data for all bargaining units represented by SEIU Local 500, communicating with employers represented by SEIU Local 500 to facilitate timely payments and accurate records,  tracking payments of dues and fees from membership, and coordinating with leadership to move local union toward increased reliance on electronic/digital files and record-keeping. 

Duties include, but are not limited to: Processing and posting receipts of dues and fees, managing membership records, assisting the Financial and Human Resources Manager in management of local union human resources data, providing data planning and support to leadership and departments of the local union, using systems analysis techniques and procedures, including consulting with users, to help determine hardware, software, and system functional needs and specifications, communicating with database vendors and technical support providers, creating and designing reports, labels, merge files, import and export documents from various sources as needed, actively ensuring security of confidential information of local union, as well as other duties as assigned.

A successful candidate will have relevant experience in data and information processing, including financial information; considerable experience working with Microsoft Access and Excel, as well as a working knowledge of desktop computers and business software

The position requires strong communication and organizational skills and the ability work collaboratively and effectively with others. Familiarity with the functions of unions and commitment to the goals and ideals of the labor movement are preferred.

The salary range is $35-45,000 per year, depending on qualification and experience.
