EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

New York City Municipal Labor Committee ("MLC")

The MLC is an organization of public sector employee organizations whose members are employees of New York City and other covered organizations. The MLC is seeking to fill the position of Executive Director.

Position Purpose:

Under the direct supervision of the Chairperson of the MLC, the Executive Director functions as the Chief Operating Officer of the Municipal Labor Committee (MLC), is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the MLC and implementing the directions and recommendations of the MLC officers and Steering Committee.

Description of Position Responsibilities:

The Executive Director shall assist the MLC Chairperson in the coordination of research, policy recommendations and coordinate the MLC's efforts to meet MLC goals and in implementing MLC policy. He or she serves as a resource person for all members of the MLC. The Executive Director is responsible for offering solutions to the problems faced by the MLC. He or she is expected to use the latest research and analytical tools to then recommend possible solutions. The Executive Director shall have fiscal and administrative responsibilities for the MLC, overseeing the budget process, including dues assessment and collection, pursuant to the MLC constitution. The Executive Director shall coordinate and implement communication with MLC members, governmental entities and the public.

The Executive Director must be creative in approach, pro-active in manner, and productive in outcome.The Executive Director shall coordinate policy research and analysis with MLC consultants. At the direction of the Chairperson, the Executive Director, based on the needs of the MLC, will recommend consultants to the MLC according to his/her research and comparative analysis of the parties involved. The Executive Director shall also oversee the MLC election process, pursuant to the MLC constitution.

Salaries - Commensurate with experience.

The Executive Director's position may be full or part time, depending on the need and the selected individual's abilities, experience and education.
