MEDICAL STUDENT ORGANIZER
Medical Student Organizer Position Open
The Committee of Interns and Residents (CIR/SEIU), the largest doctors' union in the United States, is looking to fill a medical student organizer position in New York.
Duties:
- Collaborate with national medical student organizations on campaigns and events concerning healthcare policy and workforce issues.
- Organize policy specific workshops, luncheons, and mixers at various medical student conferences and medical schools around the country.
- Prompt and plan for CIR residents to attend events organized for medical students and participate in other medical student outreach activities.
- Write and produce leaflets and newsletters geared towards medical students.
- Establish contact and develop relationships with medical student leaders from various medical student organizations and medical schools.
- Develop and maintain the medical student section of the CIR website, a database of student contacts, and the CIR medical student Facebook group, “Med School Today, Residency Tomorrow.”
- Discover new and creative ways within CIR to outreach to medical students.
- Assist new organizers, contract administrators, and administrative staff with various activities and campaigns associated with maintaining a successful resident run union.
Qualifications:
Prior union or comparable staff experience in organizing highly desirable. Healthcare, professional advocacy, legislative or political experience also preferable. Must have valid driver's license. Travel required. Must be able to multi-task and pay close attention to detail. Good writing and oral communication skills important. Familiarity with Microsoft office and video editing software is also preferable.
