Fight for Working Families! Become a Union Organizer!

The Laborers’ Mid-Atlantic Regional Organizing Coalition of the Laborers’ International Union of North America seeks an entry-level organizer for union organizing campaigns in the Frederick, Hagerstown, and eastern West Virginia area.  The campaigns will focus on the construction industry in these areas.  The job requires visits to the area’s construction sites.

The Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA) is made up of 700,000 working men and women fighting for good wages and benefits, safer workplaces and the strong voice that working people deserve. LIUNA is currently expanding and has many organizer positions to fill. Full training is provided.

Responsibilities include:
• Making house calls to workers to listen to their concerns
• Building a committee of workers to win improvements in the workplace
• Identifying, recruiting, and developing worker leaders
• Turning out workers to meetings and events
• Helping to implement the strategy and tactics of the organizing campaigns

Qualifications:
• Excellent communication skills
• A strong commitment to social and economic justice
• Willingness to work long and irregular hours
• Willingness to travel
• A valid driver’s license
• The applicant needs to be fluent in English and Spanish.
