FIELD OPERATIONS COORDINATOR

The Laborers Midwest Region Organizing Committee seeks a Field Operations Coordinator for the Kansas City area.

Job Description: The Field Operations Coordinator coordinates the field activities of organizing team and works closely with legal staff. The FOC participates in the design, implementation, and analysis of a wide variety of construction industry organizing campaigns, including top down, bottom up/grassroots, and comprehensive corporate campaign methods.

The ideal candidate should have the following:

• Ability to work in a team atmosphere as well as independently
  
• Good working knowledge of the construction industry and construction unions
  
• Good working knowledge of the current labor movement as well as its history
  
• Ability to conduct and analyze corporate research
  
• Good working knowledge of U.S. labor law, including Section 8(f) of the NLRA and the legal differences of organizing in the construction industry
  
• Good working knowledge of NLRB processes and procedures; filing ULP charges, petitions, etc.
  
• Ability to design, implement, and manage various types of organizing campaigns
  
• Ability to analyze organizing goals and build strategic plans
  
• Ability to analyze, design, and implement various organizing campaign tactics
  
• Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  
• Good computer literacy skills
  
• Ability to work well with people of varied background
  
• Ability to develop [multi] media strategies and tactics utilizing web sites, press releases, email lists, video, photos, billboards, etc.
  
• Ability to develop community resources
  
• Public speaking skills

Helpful but not required:

• Ability to build and maintain web sites
  
• Proficiency in Photoshop or other photo editing software
  
• Proficiency in nonlinear video editing programs
  
• Proficiency in PowerPoint or other presentation software
