Database Manager
Job Description
SEIU Healthcare Illinois-Indiana is a dynamic, action-oriented union
of over 90,000 healthcare, and childcare workers throughout Illinois
and Indiana. As one of the largest and fastest growing affiliates of
the Service Employees International Union, SEIU Healthcare Illinois-Indiana
is committed to building power for low and moderate income families
by organizing low wage workers for economic and social justice.
Manager of Database
Services is a position responsible for stewardship of the union's data
resources, and extending and cultivating those data resources in all
parts of the organization. Database Services supports organizing work,
improves organizing efficiency and visibility.
Primary responsibilities
include:
- Providing technical
support, maintenance, and administration of a large, 3rd party, database-driven
application, and act as primary representative to the vendor for all
modifications, technical support questions, etc.
- An excellent
working knowledge of SQL, MSSQL Server, MS Access, and the ability
to translate user requirements into results.
- Basic accounting
knowledge, with the ability to reconcile reported revenue with cash
- Develop and verify
complex reports to user specifications
- Establishing
policies for use of the database system, and publishing documentation
reflecting those policies
- The ability to
adapt with grace to a fast-paced office environment , and fulfill
any requirements
Required skills/experience:
- 3 years of experience
hands-on with Microsoft SQL Server in a production support environment.
- 4 year degree
in Computer Science or a related field.
- Excellent verbal
and written communication skills
Preferred experience:
- Some community
organizing work
- .NET programming
experience
- Project management
experience including use of Critical Path
- GIS/Mapping data
in a production environment.
