SEIU Local 1 is a large, progressive local union representing Property Service Workers (Office Janitors, Residential Janitors, Security Officers) in the Chicago area, Wisconsin and Missouri. Local 1 is a progressive organization working for justice in the workplace and dedicated to building good strong communities for our members. Local 1 is a local representing members from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

We are looking for progressive minded individuals who are dedicated to social justice and want to work in the labor movement to positively affect change in our country.

Title: Field Representative (Internal Organizer)

Purpose:
To assist Local 1 in the goal of increasing member education, participation and activation and to be the primary level of communication with the members for the Union. Field Representatives also will complete the day-to-day requirements of the Division programs and campaigns.

Duties and Responsibilities:
A Field Representative performs a wide range of duties, which may vary according to the needs of the overall program or a specific campaign. A primary duty is the regular interaction with the members at their worksites. A Field Rep. may perform one or a combination of the duties and responsibilities listed below, depending on the particular assignment.

1) Regular And Strategic Visits To Worksites
2) Steward and Leadership IDing, Recruitment & Development
3) Service Center Campaign Support Regarding Worksite Issues
4) Member Education & Training
5) Member Political Organizer Recruitment & Development
6) Education on And Promotion of Local's Political Program
7) Fight Backs & Clean-Up Campaigns
8) Organizing Campaign Support
9) Strike Support

Working Conditions:
Field Reps. may be required to work long and irregular hours, to work on weekends and holidays when necessary.

Language Requirements:
Candidates must be bi-lingual in Spanish.
