Join the Health Care Justice Team

AFSCME (American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees) Council 31 has openings for organizers to lead health care workers in the fight to unionize one of the largest hospital chains in Chicago. Council 31 is a strong, progressive union representing 78,000 health care, professional and public service employees in Illinois. Council 31 has built a well-deserved reputation for its successful organizing program and grass roots political activism. In this campaign, workers in hospitals across the city, together with community organizations and healthcare consumers, are taking on the system to demand accountability. This is a great opportunity to join one of the best organizing teams in the country. Join us and make a difference!

Who should apply? We are looking for organizers with an ability to empathize and build relationships with hospital workers, a commitment to union organizing, leadership experience and an ability to work long and irregular hours. Organizers with a healthcare background, as well as those who are bilingual in Spanish, Polish or Tagalog are strongly encouraged to apply. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, and some of the best training in the labor movement.
