PROJECT COORDINATOR

Overview: The Transportation Learning Center, a non-profit organization, seeks an organized, energetic individual to design, implement and maintain electronic systems for tracking and reporting training/testing/certification records, conduct research, and assist with the Center’s communications.

About the Center:

The Transportation Learning Center, founded in 2001, is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to advancing public transit and other transportation sectors at the national level and within communities. To accomplish this mission, the Center builds partnerships between labor and management that improve organizational capacity and expand worker skills and career opportunities.

Duties:

Data Tracking, Analysis and Reporting

  • Working in partnership with other organizations, design and implement systems to track training, testing and certificate records for the Center’s Transit Career Ladder Partnership programs, Green Jobs project, as well as national systems of training, apprenticeship and certification.
  • Update and maintain accurate information in these systems, including trainee/instructor demographics, course registration, course information, test registration, completion status, certifications, etc.
  • Analyze training and testing data and report trends and statistics to national programs, local programs and funding agencies, using Excel spreadsheets, Access and other tools.
  • Present training and testing results at meetings and conferences.
  • Track and report progress of Center projects.

Research

  • Assist with research projects; collect organize and analyze information, articles, statistics and other materials from the Internet, libraries, and other sources; develop background and case study research
  • Conduct interviews and surveys for various research projects
  • Participate in off-site partnership meetings with Senior Staff as required.

Communications

  • Help with the development of online systems for training programs to share curriculum, courseware and instructional materials, potentially integrated with the LMS. 
  • Help maintain the Center’s websites, especially as related to courseware sharing.
  • Update and maintain the Center’s central contact database, ensuring constant synchronization with individual Outlook contacts and other contact databases
  • Coordinate with Communication Team to ensure committee and distribution lists are updated and in sync for traditional mail, email and other web-based communications
  • Assist Communication Team with developing Center outreach materials.
  • Copy-edit Center publications prior to printing, including reports and papers. 
  • Assist with production of print materials for events and meetings
  • Perform other related tasks as needed.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field with 3-5 years experience. Equivalent combinations of education and work experience will be considered.
  • Strong working knowledge of and experience with computer applications, such as Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Project
  • Advanced knowledge in Excel and Access, particularly for data analysis, charting, queries and reporting; Experience with relational database technologies such as SQL or ORACLE a plus.
  • Experience in web collaboration tools such as Google Apps and e-learning desirable.
  • Experience in Learning Management Systems a definite plus.
  • Experience with website design and CMS systems a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated willingness and ability to work in a labor-management partnership environment 
  • Transportation industry experience a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task
  • Ability to work in collaborative multi-cultural setting
  • Experience with union organizations and/or urban planning/community organizations a definite plus

Location: Silver Spring, MD (Near the Silver Spring Metro Station)

Type of Employment: Full-time permanent. Contracting options may be considered.

Compensation: Commensurate with experience. Excellent benefits.
