FIELD REPRESENTATIVE

Hotel and Restaurant Employees, Local 25, AFL-CIO, is the union which represents approximately 7,000 workers in hotels, restaurants and cafeterias in Washington, DC. Local 25 is a part of UNITE HERE International Union, which has a rich, militant history of fighting for-and winning-major gains for working people in the U.S. and Canada .

There are immediate openings for intelligent, hard-working, and highly motivated individuals who are strongly committed to building the labor movement by organizing the unorganized.Local 25 is an aggressive union that is seeking more bargaining power in an industry that has been experiencing a prolonged construction boom. It is vital to our members that the union maintain and improve union density in our industry.

 

Responsibilities:

1. Represent union members in grievance meetings with management;

2. Organize members to militantly support the union;

3. Aggressively ferret out and investigate contract violations and fight to enforce the contract;

4. Lead and train union delegates;

5. Inspire confidence and trust in union membership

Note: There is very little opportunity for travel in this job. Except in the event that our union is assisting another union on a project, all work is limited to the area in and around Washington, DC.
