PAID INTERNSHIP AVAILABLE NOW!

The Department for Professional Employees, AFL-CIO (DPE) has an opening for a graduate student intern. We seek a self-motivated, mature individual who is capable of careful research, who writes well, and who is proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

The internship includes researching economic and political issues affecting the status of salaried and professional workers, selecting and organizing articles and other printed material, and helping to update and expand a variety of fact sheets, including ones focused on the service sector; the white collar work force; scientists, engineers and technicians; nurses and other health care workers; U.S. health care in comparison to other nations; and salaried and professional women, among others. In addition, the intern will perform research for DPE task forces, and assist with programs, events, and legislative work. He/she would also have the opportunity to attend a variety of meetings and conferences.

The Department for Professional Employees (DPE) is an umbrella organization for 25 national unions affiliated with the AFL-CIO. Collectively, these unions represent more than four million professional and technical employees. DPE is the largest association of such people in the country. The Department was chartered by the AFL-CIO in 1977 to help the labor movement respond to the increasingly white collar composition of both the work force and union membership. With the support of its affiliates, DPE works to ensure that those employed in the rapidly expanding professional and technical occupations have the opportunity to engage in, and benefit from collective action by forming and joining unions.

Interested students should mail (or email) a letter and résumé to:
